Sara Maria Giannitelli, PhD

Born in 1984, Dr. Sara Maria Giannitelli is Assistant Professor of “Principles of chemistry for applied technologies” (CHIM/07) at the Department of Engineering, Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma. She held a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the field of bio-artificial materials and biomimetic scaffolds for stem cell based myocardial regeneration (FIRB 2010 national research project).

Her academic background includes a MS Degree (2008) and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering (2012) at the Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma.

Her research activity mainly focuses on the development of 3D in vitro models through additive manufacturing technologies (e.g. 3D printing) and microfluidics. She is currently head of the research unit for a POR-FESR project on the 3D bioprinting of human skin and squamocellular carcinoma as advanced models for precision medicine.

Her teaching activities include responsibility for the course of “Chemistry” (Medicine and Surgery 'MedTech' and BS in Biomedical Engineering) and “Biomicrosystems” (MS in Biomedical Engineering).
